Q. Will my horse be able to get his legs in & get stuck?
A. Due to the height of the cube and the straight front it is highly unlikely that your horse will try to / achieve getting his legs in. However, if he does manage to, the roll top and return lip are an important safety feature in ensuring that your horse does not hurt himself or get stuck if he does manage to climb in!
Q. How do i remove hay from the Haycube when it is soaked?
A. You don't! The idea of the haycube is that you don't have to deal directly with the soaked hay - simply drain it out, wheel it in to the stable and attach it to the wall bracket provided!
Q. What happens if my horse kicks or bites the Haycube?
A. Due to the properties of the plastic the haycube is made from, if kicked the haycube is designed to simply indent during impact and then pop back out afterwards. Over time if this is frequently repeated, the haycube may become less resistant, however it should not shatter / splinter.
Similarly, if bitten the haycube should not break off or splinter into small pieces.
Q. How is the Haycube attached to the wall?
A. The wall attachment is extremely simple and very discreet. The back of the Haycube comprises a 'u' shape which neatly slots onto flat faced wall bracket. The wall bracket is left in place in your stable at all times and has been designed to be safe for horses even when they Haycube is not present.
Q. How heavy is the Haycube?
A. When empty the haycube weighs 8.5Kg's. We feel this is light enough to be handled by all consumers (younger customers & bad back suffers included) and is even easier due to it being on wheels. When containing hay and water the weight will be dependant on quantity and volume.
Q. Does the Haycube slow down horses that eat particularly fast?
A. As part of the design, the haycube features a return lip with a 100mm over hang around the top of the box - this is to ensure that only a mouthful of hay at a time is able to be taken from the haycube and not a whole section of hay. Though the hay is still freely accessible, reducing the bite size has a considerable effect on time taken to consume the hay.
Q. Can I use the Haycube to steam hay?
A. As the haycube is made from plastic, we do not advise you to pour boiling water over your hay as this could cause the plastic to melt / lose its shape & rigidity. It is however safe to use warm water (comfortable warmth to touch) with the haycube and soak your hay this way. If you are going to cover the top of your haycube over while you do this, please be extremely careful when removing the lid & releasing the water from the plug. Hot water & steam can very easily burn you.
